The Philadelphia Panthers is
a no-profit organization that was created by Damascene Paul Pierre to empower
men in the Philadelphia area. The goal of the Philadelphia Panthers program is
to provide young men with an outlet to play football, practice a healthy
lifestyle, take part in community service, and broaden their educational and
career goals. The Philadelphia Panthers organization was founded in 2003 by

While there are many groups
that seek to help the homeless, underprivileged women, children, and elderly,
the young men of our city go largely unnoticed, turning up on our radar screen
only when their disenfranchisement leads to criminal activity. The Philadelphia Panthers believes in the
power of restraint setting goals, team
work, and self-empowerment to help provide this target population with a better
vision for who they are, and who they can be. The players are busy in numerous
community activities, mentorship programs, and other projects which the
organization develops. They provide the

Our young men
have participated in community service activities since the first day of the
program. They participated at a) City Year Serve-A-Thon at Simons Recreation
Center b) Clean Street Sweep with HOP-IN
youth program c) ISAA youth football mini camp, as on site mentors and
student trainers d) the Labelle Community Football League, as mentors and
assistance, just to name a few.
Our outcomes are
improving daily for our young program. On Tuesday’s and Thursday’s evenings,
the Philadelphia Panthers gather for intense practices and meetings. On
Saturday’s over 50 participants along with their families travel to different
areas of the city getting involved in community service activities in order to
fulfill their 25 hours service commitment. Through email group development and
a phone bank system team leaders contact each participants daily to provide
words of encouragement, counseling, and college and various career
opportunities. These young men have made a strong commitment to set goals in
their lives and travel in a positive path.
The team competes
in the National American Football League (BNEFF), the Keystone Division. The owner, Damascene Paul Pierre has a strong
commitment to giving back to the community thus all the football home games are
played at a community field. All home games are played at Benjamin Johnson
Memorial Football Field located at
