Dear Potential Sponsor,                                                                   August, 2010

The Philadelphia Panthers is a no-profit organization that was created by Damascene Paul Pierre to empower men in the Philadelphia area. The goal of the Philadelphia Panthers program is to provide young men with an outlet to play football, practice a healthy lifestyle, take part in community service, and broaden their educational and career goals. The Philadelphia Panthers organization was founded in 2003 by Damascene Paul Pierre, a Philadelphia native and manager of renowned R&B singer Patti Labelle, along with four other outstanding individuals who plan to share their knowledge and love of the game.

While there are many groups that seek to help the homeless, underprivileged women, children, and elderly, the young men of our city go largely unnoticed, turning up on our radar screen only when their disenfranchisement leads to criminal activity.   The Philadelphia Panthers believes in the power of restraint  setting goals, team work, and self-empowerment to help provide this target population with a better vision for who they are, and who they can be. The players are busy in numerous community activities, mentorship programs, and other projects which the organization develops.   They provide the people of the Philadelphia area with year round community service while providing quality family entertainment on Sunday and/or Saturday during the football season. And play Philadelphia football at its finest!

Our young men have participated in community service activities since the first day of the program. They participated at a) City Year Serve-A-Thon at Simons Recreation Center b) Clean Street Sweep with HOP-IN  youth program c) ISAA youth football mini camp, as on site mentors and student trainers d) the Labelle Community Football League, as mentors and assistance, just to name a few.

Our outcomes are improving daily for our young program. On Tuesday’s and Thursday’s evenings, the Philadelphia Panthers gather for intense practices and meetings. On Saturday’s over 50 participants along with their families travel to different areas of the city getting involved in community service activities in order to fulfill their 25 hours service commitment. Through email group development and a phone bank system team leaders contact each participants daily to provide words of encouragement, counseling, and college and various career opportunities. These young men have made a strong commitment to set goals in their lives and travel in a positive path.

The team competes in the National American Football League (BNEFF), the Keystone Division.  The owner, Damascene Paul Pierre has a strong commitment to giving back to the community thus all the football home games are played at a community field. All home games are played at Benjamin Johnson Memorial Football Field located at 1110 Sedgwick Street in Northwest Philadelphia. The games are opportunities to offer the community with various means and information; health and wellness information and screening; and a safe and entertaining place for families, senior citizens and youth.

Labelle community football league.

The Labelle Community Football League is non-profit organization was that was created in June 2003 by Damascene Paul Pierre, manager of R&B Legend Patti Labelle. Damascene created LCFL, Inc. to focus his energy on working with youth and young adults from his hometown of Philadelphia, PA and California, to reach their full potential.

The LCFL Inc. Mission

Our Mission is to develop Strength, Honor and Greatest in ordinary people. We work to build and bring out the best and greatest in every man and woman. We combine Legends of all walks of life to join our cause. We believe that every person should have the opportunity to success if life. We believe that other peoples success combined with our success help develop Strength, Honor and Integrity. Legendary Entertainer and Philanthropist Patti LaBelle endorse this league, which launched in the fall of 2003. Other league supporters include NFL football player and NBC anchor Maurice Spencer, Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens, Mark Clayton of the Baltimore Ravens, Bobby Taylor of the Seattle Seahawks, Az Hakim of the New Orleans Saints, Terrell Owens of the Dallas Cowboys and Donovan McNabb of the Philadelphia Eagles, and Stephen Davis of the Carolina Philadelphia Panthers.  With the help of these NFL greats, Labelle Community Football League "LCFL" are currently working together to create a minor league community football system along the East Coast. With Philadelphia as the Mecca, the league has established regions throughout the Western United States and the Southern California area.

Since the establishment of the LCFL, numerous youth and adults have been impacted.

“” says Damascene.

Our future yearly involvement will be:

  • The LCFL Ticket Block – gives youth and non-profits the opportunity to attend Philadelphia Panthers home games
  • The LCFL  Scholarship Fund- awarded to two student-athletes from Philadelphia (the Northwest Region) for assistance with post-secondary education
  • Sponsors the future Philadelphia Panthers Youth Organization
  • The Philadelphia Panthers Annual Celebrity Weekend – a weekend dedicated to both benefiting the LCFL Inc., and the Philadelphia community as a whole.
  • Philadelphia and California community service activities: Donated books, equipment and what is needed to such places as Philadelphia and California PAL Centers, YMCA’s, Boys and Girls Club, City of Philadelphia and California Recreation Centers and School Districts and the Shiners Hospital for Children on Christmas Eve to patients that could not be with their families, visits to various schools and community events, and held a blood drive to increase donation in the Philadelphia and California areas. Northeast Philadelphia Community Service activities: To partner with various other non profit organizations will impact the ills of the Philadelphia region, and participate in Northwest Philadelphia annual events such as the West Oak Lane Festival, the Ogontz Avenue Revitalization Corporation (www.ogontzave.org,) and the West Oak Lane Business Association (www.wolba.org).
