News Flash for June 26, 2010 The Panthers came out of their winter den hungry for a buck and what they caught was some Buccaneers, the Baltimore Buccaneers. The veterans were outstanding with Cory Sutton on offense and Dennis Goslee on defense Leading the way while the other veteran players with the likes of Marcel Rivers, Dyshee Pierre, Donta Clanton, Larry Johnson, Aygemen Moore, Malkebu Moore, Kenny Caulk, Floyd Young, Robert Sowell, step up their game showing the new Philadelphia Panther Players such as the outstanding performance from standout QB Jeffrey Campbell, beastly LB Titus Balon, OT Antonio Turner (T.O.), Stephen Brantley, Mitchell Thurman, WR-Mike Otero, Jamar Small, Joel Robinson, Will Strong, Marquis Maynor, LB -Benjamin Landi, James Mc Rae, and new running sensation Frank Anderson. The Panthers came with just 22 players against 60. They were truly the 300 Spartans.

News Flash for May 5, 2010 Marque Slocum signs with the Washington Redskin for the 2010 season

Marques currently played semi-pro football with the Philadelphia Panthers in the 2009- 2010 season. Marque has signed with the Washington Redskin's organization for the 2010 season. When Marque was with the Philadelphia Panthers, he absolutely dominated the line of scrimmage from both sides of the ball as an OG and DT. His speed, quickness and incredible power were unmatched in the league. Marque possesses incredible raw talent and upside potential. Marque’s mentor and friend Coach William Cooper stated “The Philadelphia Panthers organization helped Marque with many aspects of his professional career. The Panthers provided training, professional playing time and film product that was needed or requested of professional sport agents. Marque will literally EXPLODE onto the NFL in 2010. Marques was entertaining offers from multiple leagues in an attempt to best position himself for a run at an UFL, CFL or NFL mini camp and roster spot in 2010. He now is with Donovan McNabb formally of the Philadelphia Eagles. McNabb and Marque two of Philadelphia’s great sports figures are now in Washington DC. Good luck to the both of you!

News Flash for December 4, 2009 - Panthers participated in 2nd Annual Historic Wadsworth Avenue Lighting Ceremony with State Representative Cherrelle Parker in the Philadelphia's West Oak Lane section.

The Panthers enjoyed themselves @ the 2009 2nd Annual Historic Wadsworth Avenue Lighting Ceremony, which was held on 12/04/2009, @ 5:00 p.m.. It was sponsored by State Representative Cherrelle Parker. Players Micah Mobley, Marcel Rivers, Lewis Young and Kenny Caulk, Lamont Hudson , along w/staff member and coaches Eugene Pough, Doug Murphy and Damascene Pierre Paul attended the event. They spread the word about the Panthers, took pictures with State Rep Cherelle Parker and her staff and enjoyed the festivities; which included eating some delicious holiday food and caroling with various performers.

News Flash for November 1, 2009- Panthers to participate in Project Great Potential’s Workshops
Several young Philadelphia Panthers will continue prowling, joining the Enterprise Center’s “Project Great Potential” social entrepreneurship workshop programs. Founded in 1989, and located in West Philadelphia, The Enterprise Center provides access to capital, building capacity, business education and economic development opportunities to high-potential minority entrepreneurs. The players will learn business ownership, career development, and community leadership. The workshops will be hosted by and @ The Enterprise Center; in their Business Event Center on Saturday’s, November 7th and December 12th from 9am-5pm. The workshops will consist of business planning, personal goal setting/assessment, panel discussions on education and employment; along with business and personal finance. There will be a video presentation on “Black Wall Street.”

Foundations, Inc. (www.foundationsinc.org) is a nonprofit organization committed to improving educational experiences for America’s children and youth—throughout the day, everywhere they learn. Partnering with education and community leaders, Foundations supports those who enhance the lives and prospects of our most vulnerable children. One or two Panthers’ staff members will be a consultant with Foundations. They will work on a wide range of projects from program design to literacy coaching; and as tutors to students from Pastorious Middle School and Martin Luther King High School. Both schools are located in the Northwest section of Philadelphia, along with Foundations Satellite Offices @ Martin Luther King High School (6100 Stenton Avenue) and its Community Initiatives Branch (7157 Ogontz Avenue).

News Flash for October 23, 2009 - Cabaret was a Success
October 23, 2009, Philadelphia, PA: The Panthers held their inaugural Team Cabaret @ the H and H Banquet Hall Ballroom, in West Oak Lane. Hosted by coaches Andreas Roberts and Doug Hatcher, and a host of guest enjoyed themselves. They drank, danced, ate and socialized till 1:00pm. DJ Que played old school music and today’s hits. It was quite a festive evening. Veterans Leroy Landon, Lewis Young, Dennis Goslee, Cory Sutton, Chris Henderson and Rashad Mims and newcomer Floyd Young and their dates/guests showed their support. Coaches and staff members Doug Murphy, Gary Flamer, “Coach P,” Kevin Isaac and Eugene Pough attended; along with the Roberts family. Also in the attendance was on air personality 107.9’s MoShayLaRen.

News Flash for October 10, 2009 - Panthers assist in Cricket Communications phone company and Rebuilding Together community service event; feasted on the Boston Ravens…for the Three-peat and playoff win
October 10, 2009, Philadelphia, PA: Several members of the Philadelphia Panthers, along with members of Cricket Communications and Rebuilding Together employees; and a host of neighborhood volunteers from the 45-51 blocks of Spruce to Market Streets participated in Saturday’s renovation projects. Players Dennis Goslee, Kalief Robinson, Larry Johnson. Marcel Rivers, Malkebu Moore, Dyshee Pierre and Sean Mayers; along with coaches and staff members Doug Murphy, Andreas Roberts, Kevin Isaac and Eugene Pough helped remove debris, etc…to start an array of new plant life and beautification on the 5100 block of Chancellor Street. The players signed autographs, took pictures and were interviewed by Channel 6 and RadioOne 107.9 FM on-air media personnel.
Later on…on a brisk Saturday evening in the City of "Brotherly Love," two teams from the Labelle Community Football League’s Eastern Division staged a great playoff battle on the gridiron. The Philadelphia Panthers (8-0 LCFL) took on the Boston Ravens (3-5, LCFL) for the third season. The Panthers completed the three-peat, defeating their heated rival for the third time. Neither offense could get into rhythm during the first half, thanks to outstanding performances by both defensive units. The Panthers were able to grind out a 22-13 victory. During the second quarter, DB Drew Gardner woke the team and Panthers fan up with a beautiful down the sideline, interception return over 90 yards for a touchdown. Despite giving up two TD passes on a flea flicker and dump off pass to the Ravens 300 pound TE, the Panthers “D” roared back; responding with constant pressure from the front four of Gary Dunlap, Marquis Slocum, Steve Coleman and Leroy Landon. LBs Jose Matos and Tomar Bivens flattened the Ravens wings with some vicious hits during the second half; causing three turnovers and recording two sacks. On offense, the Panthers backfield of Dennis Goslee, Sean Mayers, Cory Sutton and Arnold Malloy contributed over 180 yards rushing; 80 and a TD yards from Goslee up the middle, punishing runs. Mayers scored on a run over 15 yards on the left side and Sutton scored on a 2pt conversion. O-lineman Rob Marks, Bryant Whitney and Andrew Hague keyed the Panthers rushing attack with their astounding blocking. Special Teams and all purpose threats Micah Mobley and Chris Poindexter contributed over 100 yards in rushing, receiving and special team return yards. Despite the humbling conditions @ Simons Recreation Center, the Panthers “prowled” through their adversity and preyed on the Ravens to the game ended.

News Flash for September 26, 2009 - The Philly “Cats” go undefeated in “the Battle of the Felines II”
September 26, 2009, Philadelphia, PA: The Panthers defeated a formidable Virginia Lions team that prepared the Panthers to begin its’ second season: the 2009 LCFL playoffs. Despite some key drives, the Lions could not sustain the continued assault of the Panthers defense that caused a total of 10 sacks and 4 turnovers. Offensively, the Panthers ran the ball very well throughout the game as they were led by RBs Cory Sutton and Sean Mayers, who ran for over 150 yards. Mayers TD run for 86 yards in the fourth quarter sent the Lions in hibernation. The Panthers defense was outstanding against the Lions. “Big”
Stephen Coleman recorded 5 sacks, with fellow DL Marquis Slocum, Gary Dunlap and Leroy Landon adding 5 total sacks. The back seven of LBs , Tomar Bivens and Jose Matos; and DBs Hurley Desper, Donta Clayton, Woody Jones, Drew Gardner, Mose Green and Larry Johnson assisted in 18-0 shutout. This was the third shut-out of the season and the second shutout win at home


News Flash for September 19, 2009-Panthers Win 2nd game against the Boston Ravens , 20-12. Highlight of the day was Morris Racing Team on the scene.

September 19, 2009, Philadelphia, PA: Despite a slow start, the Philadelphia Panthers faced a difficult Boston Ravens team on a hot and muggy summer afternoon at Ben Johnston Memorial

Stadium. The Ravens came off the bus prepared to play as they had success running and passing the ball on the usually stingy Panthers defense. The Panthers punished the Ravens with vaunted “PROWLING” offense and moved the ball well throughout the game. The backfield tandem of Cory Sutton, Dennis Goslee and Sean Mayers accounted for over 150 rushing. QB Khalif Robinson got his “swag” back, throwing two TDs to TE Isaac Allen and WR/TB Chris Poindexter. Although the Panthers made some key mistakes on offense (2 turnovers), but kept the game tight as they closed the gap to 20-12 late in the fourth quarter. The Ravens tried respond with a TD pass late in the fourth quarter. On defense, “Big” Stephen Coleman, Leroy “Munch” Landon and Marquis Slocum led the front seven. LBs Jose Matos and Tomas Bivens helped the Panthers “D” keep the Ravens to 12 points. The Panthers look to finish the season undefeated in its conference against league rival the Virginia Lions on Saturday 9/26 at 4PM at Ben Johnston Memorial Stadium.

News Flash for September 13, 2009 - Panthers sink the Buccaneers in Delaware
September 13, 2009, New Castle, DE: The Philadelphia Panthers traveled to Delaware, to face a non-league, yet, familiar opponent, the Claymont Buccaneers. The Buccs are a former LCFL team, whom the Panthers faced from 2004-06. To fulfill scheduling obligations at the last minute for both teams, the Buccaneers humbly obliged the Panthers request…and were later humbled by the Panthers running game. 2009 LCFL National Championship Game MVP Sean Mayers finished with over 120 yards on the ground. He sank the Buccaneers with another spectacular TD run-which went over 60 yards. On defense, the front seven of Marquis Slocum,
Stephen Coleman, Tomar Bivens, Jose Matos and the secondary help of Woody Jones, Moses Green and Larry Johnson held the Buccaneers to 12 points.

August 22, 2009, Bealeton, VA: The Philadelphia Panthers traveled to Virginia, to face new conference rival, the Virginia Lions. Despite the pouring down rain, some questionable calls by the referees and being on the road, the Panthers came away with a 20-12 victory. The offense was led by the backfield tandem of Dennis Goslee, Sean Mayers and Cory Sutton. The defense was led by Hurley Desper, Leroy Landon, Cory Worthy, Donta Clayton and Marcel Rivers. Micah Mobley provided a spark returning kickoffs and punt returns.

News Flash for August 15, 2009 - Panthers win by forfeit, Chargers showed no Bolts’; preparing to face renowned minor league football team; Fish Fry Fundraiser…
Due to unexplained reasons, after constant phone calls and lack of contact of the Severn (MD) Chargers, of the MFL, the game was called. This week’s practices will be very intense as the team prepares for what should be a very, very excited game this Saturday. The renowned Central Pennsylvania Piranha, of the NAFL, will travel to Philadelphia, and take on the Panthers on 8-15-2009. The game is being held @ Benjamin Johnston Memorial Stadium and schedule for a 2:00pm kickoff. After the game, the Panthers will be hosting its inaugural Fish Fry Fundraiser. The event will take place @ 7503 Forrest Avenue, Philadelphia, PA, 19138.

August 1, 2009: Boston, MA -Panthers Win 2nd road game, 22-16, versus the Boston Ravens
- The Philadelphia Panthers traveled up north to face a tough Boston Ravens team, a new rival in the LCFL Eastern Conference. Despite scores and valiant efforts from Ravens WR Kieve Robinson and RB Lorenzo Marshall, the Ravens wings were too weak to uplift the team. The Panthers rallied and scored twice going into the fourth quarter. TE Issac Allen and RBs Sean Mayer and Cory Sutton scored for the Panthers, on TD catches, runs and a 2pt conversion. In the second half, the Panthers front seven constant pressure on the Ravens QB and Panthers DB Marcel Rivers responded with a key INT securing the game. Micah Mobley again had a great day on punt and kickoff returns gaining over 100yds total. The defense with turnovers and three sacks helped the Panthers to a decisive 22-16 victory.

July 25, 2009: Washington, DC - The Panthers defeated a formidable and long time rival, the Washington DC Chiefs team (MFL), who the Panthers faced numerous times and remain undefeated against the Chiefs. In a non-league game, the Chiefs seemed to almost score on the opening drive of the game but could not sustain the continued assault of the Panthers “PROWLING” defense that caused a total of 5 turnovers. Offensively, the Panthers ran the ball very well throughout the game as they were led by Sean Mayer, Cory Sutton, Dennis Goslee and Chris Poindexter, who combined for almost 180 yards on the ground. The Panthers defense was also very tough versus the Chiefs, recording 3 INTs and 5 sacks. The Panthers front seven; made up Cory Worthy, Tomar Bivens, Leroy Landon and Bruce Thomas allowed a stingy 120 something yards total on the entire night and also helped set up the go-ahead score in the second half. Newcomer Micah Mobley contributed on special teams, recording almost 140 in punt and kickoff returns. The Panthers outlasted the DC Chiefs to a big 22-0 win.

July 18, 2009: Philadelphia, PA - Panthers tame the Bears 22-6 July 18, 2009: Philadelphia, PA The Philadelphia Panthers routed the Western Massachusetts Blitzin Bears @ Ben Johnston Memorial Stadium. The Panthers thoroughly disabled all Bears' offensive and defensive schemes while capitalizing on turnovers and jumping out to a 16-0 half time lead. The Panthers scored twice on offense, twice on special teams and put the game away with a defensive touchdown in the second half. The Panthers defense forced 4 turnovers on defense and allowed a total of 130 total yards the entire game. Veteran LB Cory Worthy made a key interception, returning it nearly 90 yards. He was caught near the goal line. The Panthers passing offense came into synch with WRs Rashid Mims and Jason Volpe catching 10 catches total for nearly 200 yards receiving. All-purpose RB Chris Poindexter, newcomer RB Micah Mobley and FB Dennis Goslee led the ground attack. The games Most valuable Player was shared by Rashid Mims and Chrisopher Poindexter.

Panthers destroyed Pride in season opener, 34-0. The Philadelphia Panthers faced a new Philadelphia Pride team, a non-league team of the BNEFF, on a hot and muggy summer afternoon in South Philadelphia, for the Panthers season opener.. Despite their valiant roar, the Pride needed Jim Ellis and the rest of South Philly to assist them. The Panthers arrived at Smith Playground, ready to play. As usual, the team had success running and passing the ball on the Pride defense. Despite giving up a long pass during the second quarter, the Panthers responded with their “Prowling” offense and moved the ball well throughout the game. The backfield tandem of Dennis Goslee, Cory Sutton and Sean Mayers led the ground game. Although the Panthers made some key mistakes on both sides of the ball (3 turnovers), the game remained in the Panthers ‘paws’ as they scored on a Mayers TD run, late in the fourth quarter. The Panthers Defense added to the shutoff, recording 3 INTs and 7 sacks. Leroy “Munch” Landon,
Stephen Coleman, Damion Owens, Bruce Thomas and Marcel Rivers led the defense. The Panthers look to continue “PROWLING” against league rival the Western Mass Blitzin' Bears on Saturday 7/18 at 4PM at Ben Johnston Memorial Stadium.

Despite the threat of a rainstorm, the Philadelphia Panthers participated on the Philadelphia’s West Oak Lane Jazz Festival. Several players, staff and administration of the Panthers passed out flyers and other literature concerning the Panthers 2009 season. The team also set up a booth, which consisted of the Panthers trophies, jerseys and other team items and apparel. Moshay Laren, of 107.9 made a brief appearance, assisting the Panthers and promoting her social cause. Not only did those participated enjoy great food, concerts, community service and seeing wonderful Philadelphians; they got a wonderful opportunity to spread the word about the Panthers program.

Tryouts/Camp Begins
The Philadelphia Panthers, coming off their spectacular 52-41 victory over the San Diego Thunder, in the 2009 LaBelle Community Football League National Championship Game, began tryouts and camp in mid April. Returning players and newcomers were timed in the 40 yard dash and participated in various conditioning drills. The Panthers coaching staff was pleased to see the veterans coming back in great shape and the diligence of the newcomers, hoping to earn a spot on the team. Camp began @ Finley Recreation Center, and then shifted to Ben Johnston Memorial Stadium in late April.

2009 LCFL Classic Woke Up Panthers
The LCFL Southern Conference Birmingham Wildfire (newcomers of
the LCFL) played the 2008 defending LCFL National Champions, the LCFL Eastern Conference Philadelphia Panthers. In this game the Wildfire started the game strong and never looked back. Through tough defense, some turnovers, and some quality offense, the Birmingham Wildfire showed that they belong in the LCFL. The final score was Birmingham Wildfire 38 and the Philadelphia Panthers 0. Not used to to being shut out, the Panthers vow to use this exhibition game as "Inspiration” to train, and prepare themselves to get back their 2008 form.

Guest includes the Diva of all Diva’s Ms Pattie Labelle, Mr. & Mrs. Kenny Gamble, The Great Philadelphia Radio Personality Mary Mason, TV celebrity and Personality Trudy Haynes, co-founder of JMCF JacQuetta Clayton Mother of Mark Clayton of the Baltimore Ravens, the mother of the block buster rapper, TV and movie star Will Smith, Mrs. Carolyn Smith, La'Mont Graves and his Dreamlink Foundation., and many other great guest.
